Karina Smith-Reyes has recently joined Market Dojo as an International Business Development Manager with a primary focus on branching into Spanish speaking regions.
What made you apply to work at Market Dojo?
Funnily enough, a recruitment agency matched me up with Market Dojo. They spoke to me about the company and what they did and how young the company and team were. That made me want to move forward with the role.
What do you do at Market Dojo and how long have you worked there for?
I work as an International Business Development Manager. I tackle and look after prospects/ customers from Spanish speaking countries. I’ve been working here for a week.
How have you found your time so far at Market Dojo and what have you found interesting?
I think it’s a great company, full of potential and an exciting future ahead! I am very happy to be part of the growing team and work in such a strategic role. I think the products are amazing. I have had the opportunity to ‘play around’ with the tool and have found it extremely intuitive and easy to use.
I also think it is great that the team are young, full of great ideas and that we have the opportunity to share and exchange ideas.
What are you hoping to achieve in your first year?
I would love to be well known in the Spanish speaking countries, get a few strategic partners and have key accounts in Spain, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia.
Who in your team is most likely to rule the world?
Wow!! I think all of us will as we are all looking after different markets.
What is one thing would you bring to the office if you could?
My kids, but maybe not. Maybe my teddy bear instead.
What is the most unusual job you have ever had?
I would not say unusual but when I was at uni I used to work as a dinner lady at Swansea Singleton Hospital.
What is your favourite book/movie?
I love Brida from Paulo Coelho and my favourite movie is Inception with Leonardo.
What is the most embarrassing song you have on your phone?
Barbie Girl- Aqua.
What is one thing about yourself that you think others would be surprised to know?
I love vindaloo curries with extra chillies so that I can really feel the heat.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Food, nutrition, yoga, family, art, travel. I love painting when I have the time and learning new things, so research and reading, and going to the spa.
What is your biggest claim to fame?
I was spring queen when I was in primary school. I had a large parade and a coronation ceremony.
If you could be any animal what would you be?
Tiger or Jaguar.
What actor would you cast to play yourself in a movie?
Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway or Emily Blunt.
Where have you travelled? Favourite place?
Lots of places, most of Western Europe, Estonia, Morocco, USA, Malta, Mexico (obviously).
What’s on your bucket list?
Would love to go to Japan, Indonesia and Thailand. Also, I’ve always wanted to learn Russian, go on a yoga retreat and go glamping.
