Market Dojo is pleased to have welcomed our latest recruit Francesco, who has joined us within the role of Front End Developer and Designer.
What made you apply to work at Market Dojo?
Looking for a modern, interesting, vibrant company with lot’s of potential is not an easy job. When I initially saw that Market Dojo was looking for a front-end developer/designer I visited their website and actually had an online chat with their support team! The point is: you can judge a great deal about a company from their support team.
This very first experience with Market Dojo was great, so I got in touch directly, after having managed to find the direct email address for Nic, the CTO. I was hoping to make a better impression than just sending a CV through a Job board website and it worked!
Once I met face to face Nic and the all-knowing James, I knew it was the right company for me.
What do you do at Market Dojo and how long have you worked there for?
I started at the beginning of June 2019. I take care of the front-end development and user-interface design, improving new and old features and trying to keep things as nice as possible to make our products the slickest and the most user-friendly.
How have you found your time so far at Market Dojo and what have you found interesting?
I have been in IT for a couple of decades already, I’ve seen a lot and the way Market Dojo works is impressive, really well structured, incredibly transparent on all levels where everyone can have a say about everything and everyone’s opinion is really valued. We use Skype for internal communication and it works really well, keeping everyone constantly up-to-date, including all the people working remotely.
It’s a great team, I’m really happy to be part of it!
What is the most unusual job you have ever had?
I fulfilled my teen’s dreams when I worked as a professional photographer for a music magazine shooting as an accredited reporter during a music festival in Germany. That was very good fun!
What is your favourite book/movie?
I’m not much of a fan of the telly while regarding books probably my very favourite of all is “Les Misérables”, one of the greatest novels of the 19th century, by Victor Hugo.
What is one thing about yourself that you think others would be surprised to know?
For my generally quiet nature, people might be surprised to know I played the drums for about 15 years, in many bands. Here is a photo of me during a live concert.
What are your hobbies and interests?
Nowadays I love eastern arts like Qi Gong, Tai Chi and meditation. I also play piano and classical guitar. Although I spend most of my free time with my lovely family.
Where have you travelled? Favourite place?
I’ve been in a lot of countries in Europe and I’ve travelled one and a half months on my own in India. In terms of beauty, Bali has probably been the most beautiful place I visited so far. In terms of personal growth, the most enriching and fulfilling journey of all as been walking the Camino of Santiago, 1,000 Km of pilgrimage across Spain. It took about a month, but I grew in that month as much as I would have done in a decade.
What’s on your bucket list?
One day it would be nice to get for me and my family a nice little house by the sea. Maybe in Devon or Cornwall.
