Team Dojo are delighted to have welcomed Ben Walsh to our ranks as our new Partner Manager.
Our man from down under joins us with experience in both the commercial sector as well as running his own successful Tech start-up. We are looking forward to Ben bringing his creativity and flair to our thriving Partner Network.
As is Market Dojo custom, here are some facts about the latest member of our team:
What made you apply to work at Market Dojo?
I really wanted to be involved with a forward-thinking, innovative company where I could help drive the business forward. It was important for me that their vision and values matched my own and, most importantly, that they owned and built their own products. I really wanted to work with a company that has a robust technology roadmap going forward and that “excited” me. I found that Market Dojo addressed all these points and much more.
What is your role at Market Dojo?
I’ve just started as Partner Manager or “Director of partner liaisons :)“
What are you hoping to achieve in your first year?
My aim is to enhance the current partner program. I really want to increase partner exposure/spread globally and drive revenue (for us and our partners).
What one thing would you bring to the office if you could?
What is the most unusual job you’ve ever had?
Whilst at University in the U.S on a football scholarship (soccer), I was hired by a sorority to read poetry in my underwear. They just wanted to hear the British accent really (I didn’t have the heart to tell them I was Australian).
What is your favourite book/movie?
I’m a child of the 80’s so my favourite films reflect that. It would be hard for me to choose between Star Wars, The Karate Kid or Back to the future.
What is the most embarrassing song you have on your phone?
I have far too many embarrassing songs on my phone to list here. I love a bit of karaoke and have been known to sing plenty of embarrassing songs.
What is one thing about yourself that you think others would be surprised to know?
My age, I’m only 21. Had a hard paper round.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I have 3 young children so my hobbies at the moment are their hobbies (does nappy changing count as a hobby?).
I’m a big football fan. Unfortunately, I’m an Everton fan so not had a lot of happy times in the last 20 years. I also run the Cleeve Colts U8’s which my eldest son plays for.
Outside of that, I love technology and also just pop culture in general, so I guess I am a bit of a geek really.
What is your biggest claim to fame?
I played football at a pretty high level as a youngster and was a founder and director of a tech company that launched a lot of cool products. I’d have to say my real claim to fame though was that I was once in Smash Hits as a kid.
If you could be any animal what would you be?
I think most people would currently say I’m like a bear but I guess I’d quite like to be a Koala. They seem to have a pretty good life (when there are no bush fires).
What actor would you cast to play yourself in a movie?
Probably the guy out of Peep Show (David Mitchell) since we look similar.
Where have you travelled? Favourite place?
I’ve travelled a lot and really enjoy new cultures and experiences. My favourite place is hard. I think people who know me would expect me to say China but it would probably be either San Francisco (and the West Coast) or Somewhere in Asia (Beaches in Thailand probably).
What’s on your bucket list?
I’d love to go to space.
